Crispiano “Hundred Farmhouses”

This itinerary is very original and different from others: its aim is to discover the so called “Hundred Farmhouses” area in Crispiano, an area still untainted by mass tourism, an insight of rural Apulia, a travel back in time, which tells of a life in the country full of genuine products.

Arrival in Crispiano, charming town in the province of Taranto, best known for its farmhouses that surround its countryside. Accommodation in hotel and dinner.

First day strolling through the Hundred Farmhouses; visit to the Museum of Rural Culture and to a typical production farmhouse, with tasting of local products; visit to the places where brigands operated. Lunch at a farmhouse. In the afternoon, return to hotel and spa treatment. Dinner and overnight stay.

Second day: visit of Massafra and Grottaglie. In the morning tour of the town center of Massafra and to the enchanting scenery of its ravine, discovering rupestrian churches, true jewels of medieval art. Lunch at a farmhouse. In the afternoon stroll in Grottaglie, the town renowned for its pottery production; visit to the town center and ancient pottery workshops where you can shop as well. In the afternoon, return to the hotel and spa treatment. Dinner and overnight stay.

Third day: visit to Taranto, the first Magna Graecia colony in Italy; visit the town center with its the swinging bridge, the Aragonese Castle, the De Beaumont hypogeum, the De Laclos Fortress, the Greek-roman necropolis and MarTa, the National Archaeological Museum. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, shopping in the city center, and then back to the hotel and spa treatment. Dinner and overnight stay.

Fourth day walking in Martina Franca. It is the symbol of the baroque in Apulia, with its old town full of churches, such as the Basilica of San Martino, and many baronial mansions. Martina Franca is also known for its “capocollo”, a typical product listed in the Slow-food Ark of Food. Lunch at a farmhouse. Being the first city in the Valle d'Itria, travelling on the picturesque road towards Locorotondo, you will also visit a typical Trullo.

In the afternoon, end of the tour.
