The Forest has preserved its majestic and impressive wide variety of vegetative species. According to some sources, the name derives from the ancient prehistoric Celtic tribe living in the area (called Umbri), according to others it simply means shady place.

Among other things, we will visit the ancient farmhouses in the Gargano promontory, ancient hermitages such as the Abbey of Pulsano, and the extensive olive groves of Vieste which originates the "Gargano green olive oil ".

Visit to the trabucco (old fishing machine) of Monte Pucci. Discovering the ancient seafaring tradition, among XVI century towers and the immensity of the Adriatic Sea. The stretch of coast between Vieste and Peschici is one of the most picturesque in the Mediterranean. In here it is possible to admire the trabucco, an old fishing machine typical of the coast of Gargano, built on the white cliffs behind the Aleppo pine. It is a massive construction built in structural wood, which was used by local fishermen. According to some local historian, the trabucco was imported in the region by the Phoenicians.
