Whether you call it Apulia or Puglia, Pouilles or Apulie, Apulien or in any other language, the key feature of this region is its unique landscape to the eyes of the tourist. A region with many qualities, but simply unique in its traditions, folklore, gastronomy, agriculture, sea, hills, unspoiled nature and quality of life that makes it an ideal setting for physical and spiritual wellbeing.
When we think of Apulia we like to look back at modern history. In fact, historically the Old World, namely Europe, was named the Old Lady and Italy was its boot. Now imagine an old lady walking with a boots without its heel and you'll understand why we believe Apulia deserve its place in the international tourism scenario.
With its 800 km of coastline, hilly and flat inland, old towns and farmhouses, this region offers to visitors a wide variety of landscapes ranging from the Gargano peninsula to the Ionian Gulf, all with their unique colors and geography, so that it would be very difficult to recommend a particular route or tour. Apulia is divided into six provinces, the Province of Bari, Taranto, Brindisi, Lecce, Foggia and the newly formed Province of BAT (an acronym derived from the initials of Barletta, Andria and Trani) and its population is about 4 million. It is undeniable that the most popular tourist areas are the Itria Valley, the Salento, the Gargano, Magna Græcia, the Imperial Puglia and Brindisi area. Having said that, however, we invite you is to discover all the other tourist areas, namely the Ionian Coast, the Tavoliere, the Monti Dauni, the Murge and Terra di Bari, with the confidence that each of the 258 municipalities in Apulia will have something to reveal.
Browsing through the portal, you will find detailed touristic information about our region. The portal is essentially divided into two main areas, the online Booking and Travel Guide. The travel guide consists of five sections, namely Discover Apulia, Events, Itineraries and Tours, Tourist Information and Tailormade Apulia. In these sections you will find information about castles, rivers, lakes, recipes, cities, provinces, spas, museums, cathedrals, sanctuaries, itineraries, tours, events, fairs, concerts and much more. In addition to the ample information about the region, it is possible, through the Tailormade section, to request specific information about accommodation, weddings, real estate or any other requirements, simply by filling in a form that will be process as soon as possible.
As for the online Booking section, it is possible to search for hotels and many other types of accommodation in several ways. For example, starting from an selected location in the Discover Apulia section, (such as church, castle, lake, river, dolmen, museum, city, etc. ..) or an event from the Events section (concerts, fairs, festivals, folklore, etc. ...) you can search and book near the place of interest within 30 km, choosing among hotels, farmhouses, B&B, relays, resorts, villages, residences, historic homes and apartments. Using the appropriate booking form you can enter your travel dates and your destination and you will find all the facilities that meet your criteria. In addition, using the advanced search tool, you can refine and narrow down your search only to the structures that have the requirements you need. When reviewing the selected structures, you can also set up a list of your favorite hotels, resorts or farmhouses. If you do not have a clear idea and do not know which city or area to look for, we recommend using our Browse Destination tool to view all 258 municipalities of Apulia divided into the six provinces and tourist areas.
Apulia is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with mostly dry hot and long summers and mild winters. The coastal areas, thanks to the warm Adriatic and Ionian Sea current, have a more maritime climate. The central areas of the Tavoliere, the Murge plateau and Gargano peninsula, have instead more of a continental climate, with cold winters and dry summers. Rains are fairly scarce in the region, with relatively moderate precipitation occurring mostly in winter.
